The breeder Grandiflora Genetics in Oakland is credited with developing Red Velvet.
They crossed two known strains: Lemon Cherry Gelato and Pina Acai. This pairing was chosen to blend the sweet, gelato-type dessert flavor of Lemon Cherry Gelato with the exotic, fruity twist from Pina Acai.
As I see it, the goal was a hybrid that delivers both flavor and balanced effects similar to the creamy, citrus sweetness found in Sunset Sherbet’s profile.
Compared to other Grandiflora hybrids, Red Velvet stands out by leaning more toward dessert flavors and offering high potency.
